To All of Joe's Friends:
The Joe Nuxhall Children's Center will be nestled on 14 acres in Fairfield, Ohio, Joe's hometown. The center will cost approximately 2 million dollars, housing approximately two offices, a locker room for boys and girls, a cafeteria, eight classrooms and a full-size gym with bleachers. This building can accommodate groups whether it be in character building, parenting classes and special needs children.
Joe's dream was to be able to teach children baseball at the center. That dream, sadly, he will not be able to fulfill, however he also wanted to give them the very best that they can have and allowing them to have the opportunities to succeed. That part of the dream can be fulfilled, and that is what this building is all about and that's what Joe Nuxhall was all about.
The One Way Farm of Fairfield, Inc., has embarked on a capital fundraising campaign to secure $2MM in funds by 2006 to build the Joe Nuxhall Recreation Center (JNRC) on the site of the One Way Farm of Fairfield, Inc. campus in Fairfield, Ohio, located in Butler County. The JNRC will be home to both a Recreation Center and an Alternative School Program.
Funding for this project is anticipated to come from two sources. The first source is through grants such as corporations who know of, and would like to honor the life's work and memory of Joe Nuxhall and is expected to account for $1.4MM, or approximately 70% of the $2MM. The remaining $600MM, or 30%, is expected to come from the donating public. It is the intent of this initiative to secure net new funds from the donating public, not upset the existing general public revenue source for the One Way Farm of Fairfield, Inc. (Children's Home).
Currently, The City of Fairfield has deemed the Joe Nuxhall Children's Center as a recreation use facility, which is appropriate for the A-1 Zoning currently held. Further, Joe Nuxhall has provided a letter of intent stating his endorsement of the facility, and the use of his name.
